OUR CREATOR – a symbol of Jesus’ body
Colossians 1:15-22
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
Activity: You will need: 2 glasses, water, strainer, solid little things to put in the water. Have a glass with water in it and other things floating in it (leaves, rocks, chunks of apples, whatever). Talk about the what you learned that morning:

That we have bad stuff in us from the beginning of our life and we need to be pure in order to have a relationship with a pure God, but we can’t do it on our own, so God loved us so much that He became the sacrifice and made a way for us to come to Him through Jesus.
Then pour the water through the strainer in the second glass and show the children how God can see as pure because Jesus who knew no sin took ours. Jesus took our badness even though he has never done bad… what BIG love God has for us.
Art Project: Coloring book page of Jesus with yellow materials: yellows paints, crayons, glitter, yellow tissue paper glue sticked on etc. Representing God in the body of Jesus
Food: Sandwich with good stuff in it with the sides cut off and the edges sealed by taking a glass and pressing it down like a cookie cutter. Talk about how God came to earth and lived in a human body... that was Jesus. Like all the good things inside this sandwich.
so thankful for your creativity and sharing Heidi--going to do this with the kids this morning! thank you :)
