Galatians 4:1-7

1 Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had. 2 They have to obey their guardians until they reach whatever age their father set. 3 And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world. 4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

Activity: Night Tag (Outside or in a clean house- can get dangerous). Rules to the Game: All of us are in darkness and the “Abba or Daddy” has to find us in the darkness if he finds and tags us then we are on His team (His children) and we can go hunt for the other people in the darkness together. After the game is played a few times. Talk about how it fell to be in the darkness all alone and then how it felt to be on “Abba’s” team. Talk about the relationship that God has for us… he wants to call us his children. Even though we don’t deserve it.. He still loves us that much!!

Art Project: 2 colors of paint and blank sheet of paper. Have them put one single hand print on the sheet of paper. Talk about how everybody lets the other people that do not know God tell them what to do and not do. We kinda make them our daddy or our boss and we are trapped. We live without God, alone, because we are not good like He is, we can’t be good like that, so we live like slaves to those other people BUT because God loved us so much He sent his son Jesus to buy our freedom. It cost Him His life. He loves us that much. Jesus bought us from those people and those bad things “the world”. And when we choose to follow God He makes us His children. God adopted us. Take your hand in the other color paint and place it over their hand on the paper making a heart. It is because of His great love that we can now be his son or daughter.

I inserted our story here…. Like our little baby sister or brother is trapped in place where they are alone and they need us… so we are doing everything we can to get to them and bring them into our family and they will be just like you and Jeriah are…daddy and mommies for life.

Food: It is hard to describe adoption with food if you have any ideas please comment them below!... i think the best way to describe this verse is simply to adopt... then they will get it. :)
