22 days till Easter

OUR PRIDICTED MORNING STAR (hundereds of years before His coming)

symbol in the egg: star

2 Peter 1:16-21

16 For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes 17 when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”18 We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. 19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

Activity: At night go into a room with a lamp, nightlight, or flash light. Cut off the lights and share with the children that God’s word says that the words of the prophets are like a lamp in a dark room. What does the lamp do? Helps us to see better. That is what the prophets words have done. Help us to understand that Jesus is God. Next go outside and look for the brightest "star" (Venus) it is called the Morning Star. God’s word says that Jesus is like the morning star. So bright, guiding till the end of time when He comes in His fullness (the sun).

I love Elijah's giddiness about this all... kids are sooo cool.. they remind me of how i am suppose to always see things.

Art Project: The Morning Star - You will need aluminum foil, cardstock or thick paper, pencil, scissors, and a glue stick.

Fold the paper in half and make half a star on the fold using a straight edge and a pencil. Have the child cut out the star and unfold. Glue the star front and back. Then place on dull side of alumni paper. Fold the aluminum paper you will need to make cuts in the paper to fold properly. Make a star…. The star represents Christ , our morning star, shining the hearts of those who follow Him.

Food: Dark food with little light. Taco meat on tortilla chips with a dob of sour cream on top. Brownies and ice cream. Blue Organic chips and salsa with a dab of sour cream.
